Audio track 1: Japanese
(theater audio)
Audio track 2: Chinese dub
Bootleg is based on camcorder recording taken in a Hong Kong theater
in the summer 0f 2003; missing 30 minutes of footage from beginning,
end, and multiple spots in the middle; poorly framed, mostly dark,
bad audio (you can even hear the bootlegger eat popcorn and burp),
generally unwatchable--but back in that day, this version (and internet
versions of it) was the only way someone outside Asia could see
the movie.

| This bootleg is based
on the Japanese release. Re-encoding to fit the material on DVD-5
results in more artifacting on the feature film and severe compression
effects on the extras, but the two audio tracks are intact, and
the translation is bound to be the best available until the British
DVD arrives in November 2004.
The single-disk version of this bootleg contains the gala premiere
stage greeting, the Warsaw orchestra recording, the rehearsals featurette,
Shiori's "Farewell to the Piano" segment, and a trailer.
None of the extras are subbed.
This item is also offered with a second disc, which contains the
extras found on the special features disc. Again, the image suffers
because of the additional compression. None of the extras are subbed,
either.
DVD's direct
from Cannibal King are on DVD-R's. DVD's from some other sources
are factory-pressed.
